Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is a Caulk Garbage Can?

 A single Caulk Garbage Can.

 A single Caulk Garbage Can.

  • A Caulk Garbage Can is a lightweight, reusable tool designed to make the process of caulking cleaner and more efficient. Invented by a tradesman with 30+ years experience in residential and commercial construction/remodeling, the Caulk Garbage Can is a small, adjustable receptacle (or 'garbage can') which slides over any standard tube of caulk and fits all caulking guns. This provides a convenient, near-to-hand location to dispose of excess caulk accumulated during the process of caulking. Each unit is comprised of two tubes; one slides over the tube of caulk, the other is the 'garbage can.'

Why is a Caulk Garbage Can a better solution than traditional methods for disposing of excess caulk?

  • Most professionals (not to mention homeowners) simply wipe their hands off on a rag as they caulk... and the rag gets gooey, then their hands get sticky, and they have to stop to clean their rags and clean their hands over and over—it's a disaster! Other traditional industry 'solutions' include smearing the excess caulk on your pants, inside the rungs of ladders, on the lip of garbage buckets, inside gutters, or hidden under cabinets and countertops where you hope a customer will never look. Using a Caulk Garbage Can is cleaner and more convenient than every traditional method for disposing of excess caulk on the market.

How long does a single Caulk Garbage Can unit last?

  • Manufactured from thick, high-quality card-stock, Caulk Garbage Can units are designed to be durable and reusable. When a single unit is full, simply peel out the dried caulk and reuse. After several cleanings, the caulk will begin to degrade the receptacle, at which point you may flip the unit around and use the clean tube for a new receptacle, essentially doubling the lifespan of the product. Eventually, however, the unit will need to be replaced. The longevity of a single Caulk Garbage Can will depend both on the expertise of the worker and their commitment to occasionally cleaning it out, as well as the types of caulk used. (Certain products dry harder, for instance, and may be more difficult to peel out.) More experienced caulkers tend to generate less excess, but they also do a lot more caulking; inexperienced caulkers generate more excess, but caulk less frequently; whatever your skill level, you can count on your Caulk Garbage Can to more than pay for itself with the time it saves you.
